A Notary, formally know as a "Notary Public" is a state-commissioned official who serves as an impartial witness in the signing of important documents.
What I Can Do As A Notary...​
Verify the identity of signers using valid identification
Complete notarial certificates to validate notarizations
Help deter fraud by ensuring documents are signed willingly and knowingly
Act as a neutral third party without providing
legal advice or drafting documents
Confirm that all parties understand the contents of the document(s) being signed
Ensure documents meet basic state
requirements for notarization
Administer oaths and affirmations, when required
Witness signatures on legal, financial,
and real estate documents
What I Cannot Do As A Notary...

Not allowed to explain legal terms or interpret documents

Not permitted to prepare, draft, or alter legal documents

Not responsible for the content, accuracy, or legality of documents being signed

Not allowed to have personal interest/gain from documents being signed

Not able to notarize documents without the signer being present

Not permitted to proceed if proper identification is not provided

Not allowed to notarize documents if the signer appears unwilling, coerced, or unaware

Not a guarantee that the document is truthful, valid, or legally binding
